Believe it or not, since Mario was created in 1985 he's never been seen with his shirt off. The closest gamers have ever gotten to seeing his abs was in a 2004 advertisement which showed his left sleeve rolled up.


That changed yesterday when Nintendo gave a presentation for Super Mario Galaxy. During a gameplay sequence, the famous overall-toting plumber was seen coursing through the beach in his swim trunks and red hat, bearing his entire portfolio for the world to see. Seen above, the image has made quick rounds on the internet. 


It didn't take long for gamers to talk about Mario's nipples, and even drawing comparisons to Link, who earlier in the year was seen topless for his first time, but without glorious nipples.



Others have talked about how Mario has a hairless chest, which doesn't fall in-line with his Italian roots. So, a quick trip to Photoshop was in order.
